More than anything, Sparc Design wanted the home interior design of “A Piece of Sky” to be an experience, one that evokes the calm and awe of gazing up at a starlit expanse.
The goal was to connect the homeowners to something larger than themselves by bringing the sky’s beauty into their everyday space. Sparc Design sought to achieve this through a thoughtful mix of blues, blacks, and greys and a modern interior design language emphasising fluidity and movement. The result is a home that captures the feeling of being enveloped by the sky’s embrace, constantly reminding its residents of its vast, awe-inspiring presence.

Thoughtful Home Interior Design Starts Outside
The exterior of “A Piece of Sky” sets the tone for the home interior design, making a striking first impression. Tucked away in a quiet, bungalow-lined neighbourhood in Pune, its contemporary, straight-line architecture stands out, much like the sharp outline of a sunset on the horizon. Inspired by the rich twilight hues, the exterior colour scheme ties the home to its celestial theme. The metal and stone screen adds depth and texture, while the granite louvres let the light and shadow dance across the interiors, shifting throughout the day.
Stepping Inside “A Piece of Sky”
Stepping through the residence’s main entrance is a sky-high welcome. The eye is immediately drawn down the entire 60-foot length of the home, culminating in a striking sculptural wall. The honey-blue granite flooring, paired with sleek linear lighting, makes the entrance feel even more expansive. But the sky’s influence truly takes centre stage in the living room interior wall design, where the louvred details seamlessly flow from the exterior to the interior. The exterior screen creates mesmerising patterns of light and shadow that shift throughout the day. The cool greys, blacks, and blues create a tranquil ambience, while the addition of soft acacia wood adds warmth. The custom-designed furniture, like the centre table and rugs, completes the space with bespoke elegance.
The staircase is another focal point that reinforces the home’s sky-inspired theme. Crafted from ferrocement with a celestial blue micro-topping finish, the floating horizontal tread seamlessly merges with the ceiling. This modern interior design also eliminates the need for a handrail, maintaining the home’s open, unobstructed flow from one space to the next. This sense of continuity extends into the dining and kitchen areas. Custom artwork and a designer dining table bring a cohesive look that ties the entire space together. Nearby, the sit-out space, furnished with custom pieces, offers a peaceful overlook of the double-height living room, the stunning living room interior wall design, and the dramatic 12-foot metal light installation.
In each of the bedrooms, the personal touch of the inhabitants is evident. The main bedroom features a bold bed back crafted from black lappato granite, with matching granite side tables. The son’s bedroom has a rock-textured wall, a floating bed, and a deep indigo-blue niche for displaying treasured items. The parents’ room boasts a moulded bed with an intricately designed headboard and statement powder blue handles. The “A Piece of Sky” residence is 7,500 sq. ft. and was carefully designed to maximise space and functionality. We used natural light and neutral colours to maintain a sense of openness throughout the home.
For “A Piece of Sky,” the talented team at Sparc Design included Ar. Rashmi Bhojak and Rutuja Hore, with Ar. Suhani Lal Sanghra, who led the project as Lead Architect Designer. They bring their expertise to every aspect of architecture and interior design.
One challenge was capturing the fluidity and dynamism of the sky in a static structure. Sparc Design overcame this by using light and shadow to create movement. The louvred details on the house’s exterior cast interesting shadows that change throughout the day.
